Natural ventilation resources can be difficult to find, especially those which speak about its application in the United States. Only prior to the 1980s was there more mention of this concept as applied to passive solar design. The energy crisis that the United States faced several decades ago sparked intense funding of research by the Department of Energy into passive solar design. Unfortunately, when the energy crisis subsided, the motivation for passive solar research also disappeared. Until recently, the topic is known in a few select circles of homebuilders seeking to construct highly energy efficient housing.
Eventually, a list of naturally ventilated buildings in the United States will be presented here. Most are located on the West Coast in California.
